I don't wanna wake up!
I don't wanna wake up!
Yesterday it was grey, the temperatures were in the mid 60's, and it the sky was drizzly.
I love the rain so much. It makes me feel so good. It soothes my soul more than I could ever describe.
Walking through the dampened downtown streets, talking to random street walkers for brief moments was purely magical.
I know it has to warm up again, but Autumn magic is on her way. September 22nd is the first day of Autumn. I love the feeling of coats and warm covers; reading books and watching informative TV shows.
I especially like Smoggie Catt seems to be enjoying the outside. I leave the backdoor cracked and she keeps going out, smelling the crisp outside air.
This Summer has been great. I'm thankful for everyone who was a part of it, but I strive in the grey rains. Bring it Portland; bring the magic.
OOohhhh and I found a really magical acorn on the walk home last night. Probably the most magical one since arriving here.
Okay now I need to get dressed to go volunteer for MusicFestNW and I need to find some coffee. Definitely need to find some coffee; my thoughts feel scattered and I'm feeling too mellow to do real work.
Honestly...
I had a multi paragraphed blog post about my current state of contentment with life even though there are still so many things I desire to accomplish. It was well written with grand conviction, but the blog didn't save. Oh well; here's an abbreviated version.
I am who I want to be and where I've wanted/needed to be for many years. There will always be new things to want to do, make, learn, buy, but life is how it needs to be.
Life may not always go the pace you think, but take a deep breath and enjoy the ride.
I'm just ready for the cooler weather and Autumn leaves. I can smell it in the air. I think it'll be just the spark I need.
I wish my other blog had saved, but this is roughly the point I was trying to get across.
I need to zone out to some music now. Goodnight Interwebs.
Damn, I spent way too much money this weekend. Eeeeeeekkkkk!!! Oh well; it was fun.
I had a lot I wanted to type out but my head is thinking too much to type it all out. Just going to zone out let it all simmer. Think I'm going to just camp out on my living room floor and finally give Animal Collective a listen.
Kart, I'm finally doing it. All you other Portlandians who have been telling me about them lately it's going to happen. Just time to see them at Music Fest Northwest.
Humanity needs to learn to trust the stars more and observe and respect the other animals we share this planet with. We can learn a lot from each other if we would just try.
Anyway I need to quit typing now. That's sums up my head thoughts.
Only two songs into Animal Collective and already regretting not listening to them 5 years ago. Oh well. Goodnight Interwebs.
I found the most awesome records in a free box this evening. Nerdy but awesome. All kinds of old music and the records are in near perfect condition.
Also I should probably really invest in a record player. A record player and Eric Lubarsky to listen to this old classical music with me.
Also, Portlandia is no lie. Maybe they're stereotypes but it's what drew me to this place. It's a whole new way of life. I love it.
Firstly, I can't believe I'm typing about the Gators. I moved to the other side of the country and still surrounded by Gator Nation.
The interesting part is how many people in my newsfeed aren't actually in Gainesville anymore. New York, Chicago, California and so on.
Living in a college town is quite the experience; even though some of you fools are a bit insane, but we all have our passions I guess. I get pretty obsessed with music stuff.
Deep inside I still want the Virginia Tech Hokies to go all the way still. And I'll still check the paper to see they are doing really well and then lose a couple essential games. But no more than a couple and it will drive me mad.
So Virginia Tech Hokies and Florida Gators is a football game I would pay a pretty penny to see. Let's make that happen football dudes!
Maybe I'll be remembered as:
"...that white boy who was obsessed with Michael Jackson".
I'd be fine with that.
There's something surreally fascinating about the cereal box aisle. Maybe it's all the boxes uniformly lining the shelves, the many colors, and many tastes and faces. I don't know but it's intrigued me for years.
Anyway.... totally bought some Golden Grahams last night for the first time in many years! They're still just as good.
They only sell them in one size box which is interesting because most other cereal comes in regular, family size, etc.
Golden Grahams are my second favorite cereal of all time. Second only to Lucky Charms. They'd be number one, but the advertising for Lucky Charms is far more memorable.
My life happenings as of late have been very fascinating to my brain box. Today especially has been surreally soothing.
Been spending some good times with good folks and I see no end in sight. Unfortunately I'm feeling way to mellow to try and type it out right now. Sometimes feelings just have to simmer and come out in a creative form later. It's been that kind of feels lately.
Also listening to a lot of Deerhunter today; his Microcastle album specifically.
The rain this morning was absolutely mesmerizing.
I know I say it a lot but I'm very thankful for Smoggie Catt. She makes me so happy and is full of so much personality. There's a connection there that only the stars can bring.
Just booked a flight to Florida to see Portugal. The Man in Orlando on October 8th!
Flying in on the 7th and leaving on the 9th. Thank you Jenny for the early birthday gift. Any Gainesvillians going to the Portugal show?
Just wrote 2 letters: wrote, sealed, and stamped and ready to drop in the mailbox tomorrow.
One of them is a reply to a letter written to me on May 8th. Long overdue to say the least. I think the rain helped; she put me in a creative mindset. Good thing the rains are returning.
The grey and the rains returned yesterday and it made this fox very very happy indeed.
I just need the temperature to go down another 10 degrees.
I can smell it; Fall is on her way.
Pumpkins, cinnamon, orange leaves, and crisp air!
It's not that far away! Yay!
Finally listened to Sigur Ros's new album: Kveikur
it's brilliantly dark, noisy, and oh so epic! The entire thing feels like a storm rolling in on an elvish village and the traumas that would naturally ensue.
I feel like unless you need the give the full album a listen for it to make sense. With the exception of the title track; it's a good stand alone track. So if you haven't listened to this album yet then give this song a listen and then support this magical band!
I did a lot of walking today. Met up with Tim and we hiked the Lower / Upper Macleay parks all the way to Pittock Mansion; stopped a few times to just take it all in listen to some Sigur Ros and Deerhunter.
Passed some awesome trees.
The last mile home after crossing the Broadway Bridge I decided to walk barefooted.
These new shoes aren't quite broke in just yet and it felt absolutely perfect outside.
It was a great decision. This weather is so perfect.
The moisture is starting to build up; I can smell and feel it in the air. Autumn is just around the corner. Almost time for the rains.
But now it's time for beer, Radiohead, and some noodles and cheese.
Goodnight Interwebs.
There's a time to sing and there's a time to dance.
There's a time to hate and there's a time for romance.
There's a time to wander and there's a time to sit.
The magic to me is to me is the evolution of a being in the in between times where nothing really makes sense and the creations we make in response to it.
Scientists have proof that dolphins give each other names. Different whistles are used to distinguish each other. Awesomeness! Nature is pretty amazing.
I want to just hang out with animals and scientists, and historians, and archeologists all the time and listen to their learnings.
Anyway... read this article! DOLPHINS!!
I don't have a lot of words to say these days, but my head is constantly in thought. I'm ready for it to cool off and not go above 75 degrees.
I need to get out of Portland before it gets too cold though. I'm not so great at driving in the snow just yet.
I want to explore more; lots more. John Day Fossil Beds; that's where I need to go. Maybe I need to own a car. Hmmm... maybe one day.
Yeah the rain needs to return. I've got a lot of writing to do. Mostly I just sit and think these days. Watch a few documentaries, dramas, and TED Talks, and think. Oh and lots of music.
On that note; going to make more noodles n' cheese and listen to some music I think.
